The Nevada Artists Association, a local non-profit art association supporting the arts, announces Addison Buckner as the winner of the inaugural 2026 Nevada Artists Association Art Scholarship. Addison is a graduating senior at Douglas High School.
This scholarship is awarded to a local student who is pursuing professional instruction in art at the post-secondary level and is open to area high school seniors.
Students participating in the Nevada Artists Association 2026 Spring Student Show were encouraged to apply for the scholarship. In addition to a portfolio highlighting their artistic talents, applicants were required to submit an artist statement outlining their creative journey, and meet with the NAA scholarship committee.

Addi has received numerous awards for her art. She credits her art teacher of all four years at Douglas High School, Mrs. Zoe Shorten, who pushed her to be a better artist. Addi is planning to further her art career as a high school art teacher.
As the 2026 NAA Art Scholarship recipient, Addi was invited to have her own student show at the Nevada Artists Association gallery. This inaugural solo student show will be May 29th-June 15th. The public is encouraged to stop by and see this talented young artist’s work. The Nevada Artists Association gallery is located at 449 West King Street, Carson City, NV 89703. The gallery hours are Tuesday – Sunday 12 – 4PM.
