A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested May 14 at 1:38 a.m. in the 3300 block of Kathleen Drive on suspicion of first-offense reckless driving with disregard of safety of person or property, resisting a public officer, and making a false statement to or obstructing a public officer. A deputy on patrol near North Carson Street and Winnie Lane heard a speeding vehicle and saw a brown pickup truck with a camper shell pass at a high rate of speed, reaching over 90 mph in 35- and 45-mph zones. The deputy later found the truck parked in a driveway on Applegate Way, with multiple occupants exiting the vehicle and running into the residence. The man walked out, claimed he wasn’t driving, and repeatedly tried to walk back to his front door, refusing commands to stay so deputies could investigate who was driving. A deputy tased the man to prevent him from entering the home; the man continued pulling away on the ground before being handcuffed. While he was arrested for reckless driving and the aforementioned charges, the arrest report does not state how deputies were able to determine he had been the one driving the vehicle. Bail was set at $2,216.
