The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision that happened Tuesday night at US-50 westbound to the I-580 southbound ramp. A female bicycle rider died after being taken to the hospital and the SUV driver involved was investigated and arrested for suspicion of impairment.

On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at approximately 10:21 p.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol, a division of the Nevada State Police, responded to an injury crash involving a bicyclist and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The crash occurred on the US-50 westbound to Interstate 580 southbound on ramp.

Road Closures: Intermittent closures of US 50 and the Interstate 580 southbound on-ramp were necessary to complete the crash investigation.

Preliminary information indicates the crash involved an adult female bicyclist versus a sports utility vehicle. The bicyclist was transported by ground ambulance to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV, an adult female, reported no injuries at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was investigated and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impairment.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at approximately 10:18 a.m., NHP leadership was notified that the bicyclist had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
