The free, two-day celebration Nov. 6–7 features traditional ofrendas, live music, cultural performances, and family-friendly activities
The Nevada State Museum, Carson City will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7. The free, two-day event invites visitors to honor and remember loved ones through traditional music, art, food, and cultural activities, continuing a museum tradition that has brought the community together for two decades.

The festivities will begin on Friday, Nov. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. with an ofrenda presentation in the Dema Guinn Concourse. Traditionally created to honor loved ones who have passed, ofrendas feature symbolic offerings that celebrate their lives and welcome their spirits. Visitors can also enjoy traditional Mexican breads, including pan de muerto provided by Centro Market and pan dulce provided by Hacienda Market, as well as Abuelita hot chocolate courtesy of Juan’s Mexican Grill and live music.

The celebration will continue on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with entertainment and family-friendly activities throughout the museum campus. Juan 101.7 will serve as the event emcee, with festivities featuring live music, Aztec dancers, face painting, arts and crafts, and Mexican street food from local food trucks.
The two-day celebration is sponsored by Visit Carson City, with additional in-kind support from local businesses.
