UPDATE 1:08PM: Carson City Fire Department advises Southwest Gas was able to shut off the line. Occupants of 609 Hot Springs Road that were evacuated are being let back in.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies responded Wednesday afternoon to a vehicle crash into an apartment complex building that has resulted in a gas leak.
The accident at 609 Hot Springs Road, was reported at around 12:30 p.m. Arriving first responders on scene report the vehicle hit the building, which resulted in a severed gas line.
Traffic along Hot Springs Road has been closed off near the accident scene due to the nature of the gas leak. The 609 building and nearby buildings were briefly evacuated. No injuries were reported.
Residents and citizens are advised to stay clear of the area due to the leak and emergency personnel arriving on scene. Residents are not allowed onto the property until the fire department gives an “all-clear” to return.
The motorist who hit the building was not seriously injured, according to personnel on scene. Carson City Fire Department personnel are evaluating the situation, preparing to do a clamp on the gas line.
Southwest Gas has been notified and asked to expedite as the entire gas line will need to be shut off, according to a battalion chief on scene.
