The Carson City School District is pleased to announce a successful and smooth start to the 2024-2025 school year. School campuses and hallways were flooded with people again and students, educators and employees were greeted with enthusiasm, excitement and a renewed commitment to learning.

“The first week of school is always an exciting time, and this year has been no exception,” said Mr. Andrew Feuling, school superintendent. “We’ve worked hard over the summer to ensure our schools are ready to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students. It’s wonderful to see our students and staff back in the classrooms, eager to start the new academic year.”

Several elementary schools including Bordewich Bray, Empire, Fremont, Fritsch and Mark Twain Elementary participated in Back-to-School nights and open houses. Eagle Valley and Carson Middle Schools offered boot camps and sneak peeks while Carson High offered orientations and other welcome events. Additionally, nearly 1,000 full-time and part-time district employees, teachers and administrators celebrated the return to schools.

A total of 37 new educators and 31 new employees attended on-boarding trainings in the days leading up to the first day of school. Those numbers, down from 71 new teachers and 46 employees at the start of the school year last year, speaks to the district’s employee retention efforts. The district also confirmed they started the school year fully-staffed with all teaching positions filled, with the exception of two hard-to-fill NJROTC instructor positions.

“We’re thrilled to see such a positive start to the school year,” Feuling continued. “Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and we are dedicated to providing them with the best possible education and support throughout the year.”
