A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery after he allegedly threw a bottle of malt liquor, hitting his girlfriend in the head, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

At 7:34 p.m. deputies responded to the area of North Roop and East Long Street for a report of a battery. The victim stated she was struck in the head with a 40-ounce bottle of Old English Malt Liquor. She told CCSO dispatch that she was following the suspect whom she identified as her boyfriend.

The deputy located the suspect and the victim in the 1700 block of Marian Avenue. The officer spoke with the suspect. The officer could smell an odor of alcohol on his person and he later submitted to a preliminary breath test of .170, the report states. The suspect told the deputy that she hit him, and he defended himself. The deputy did not observe any injury to the man and he did not claim to have any injuries, the report states.

The deputy spoke with the victim who stated she came home and saw that her boyfriend had spent the day drinking at her apartment and that he had not taken out the trash. The victim said she told the suspect to pack up his clothes and leave.

The woman stated the two began arguing and that as he exited the apartment he threw a full bottle of malt liquor, striking her in the back of the head. The bottle did not break. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and she declined to go to the hospital. The deputy observed a lump on the back of her head approximately the size of a half dollar coin, the report states.

The deputy then returned to the suspect and advised him he was under arrest for domestic battery. He was read his Miranda warning and stated he understood his rights and did not want to answer any questions. Bail: $3,000.

In other arrests:
— A 73-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion misdemeanor DUI, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and a stop sign violation.

According to the booking report, a deputy observed a silver Chevy traveling northbound approaching the intersection of Sonoma Street and Silver Sage. The vehicle did not appear as if it was going to stop at the stop sign. The deputy slowed to avoid collision and the vehicle stopped past the stop line and over the crosswalk, the report states.

The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop with his overhead lights, but the driver continued with no indication of either slowing down or yielding. The deputy turned on his siren where the vehicle continued along the shoulder of Colorado Street for approximately 300 feet before coming to a stop, the report states.

The officer spoke with the driver who had slurred speech and was having issues locating paperwork for his vehicle. The deputy could smell the faint odor of an alcoholic beverage. The officer asked the man how much he had to drink. The man replied two beers. He agreed to submit to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .187 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he agreed to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $1,441.

— A 20-year-old woman, Kori Dunning, was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and obstructing.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to a gas station in the 3900 block of Highway 50 East regarding a woman passed out in the driver seat of a vehicle.

The Carson City Fire Department began to assess the female, who was uncooperative with them and refused any medical assistance. A deputy made contact with the woman, who was eventually identified as Dunning. She refused to step out of the vehicle when a deputy gave the lawful order. The deputy attempted to grab the woman to put cuffs on her, but she pulled away. The deputy was able to place her in handcuffs.

A K-9 conducted a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle and alerted positive for narcotics. Officers searched the vehicle and located a vial that tested positive for methamphetamine. Bail: $2,912.

— A 39-year-old Dayton man was arrested Tuesday for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant out of Lyon County. Bail: $500.

— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday for a misdemeanor warrant issued Feb. 17, 2022 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
