Drift smoke and haze from the Crozier and Park Fires has moved into the Lake Tahoe Basin, Reno and Carson City areas.

Smoke and haze will continue to impact portions of the region through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. As of 11:25 a.m. Friday, air quality in Carson City was in the “moderate” range, while air quality in the Reno area, Washoe Valley and at Lake Tahoe are also in the “moderate” category, according to airnow.gov.

For the Crozier Fire burning near Placerville in California, the near surface smoke density appears highest into the northern half of the Tahoe Basin and Carson City and Washoe Valley, with lesser amounts into South Lake and Reno, Sparks area.

Smoke from the Park Fire near Chico, Calif., has burned more than 427,000 acres, will mainly push into areas stretching from Susanville to Lovelock, with lighter haze possible to the Oregon border on the northern edge and I-80 on the southern edge.

You can find the latest air quality information on fire.airnow.gov, or by checking with your local county air quality district. Some variety of smoke and haze are likely to continue, but exact impacts will be dependent on how actively the fires burn.
