State Route 878 (Slide Mountain Road) Road Closure through mid-September
Slide Mountain Road will be closed Aug. 12 through mid-September as crews replace roadside guardrail. The roadway provides access from Mt. Rose Highway to Mt. Rose Ski Resort.

With the roadside barrier rail removed alongside a steep hillside, the road is closed for public safety.
Recreational access to the roadway will not be available, but Mt. Rose Ski Resort staff will be able to access the road.

The road work schedules are subject to change.

The work is part of an NDOT project which will replace and improve sections of roadway barrier rail and guardrail on the following roadways:

— Interstate 580- just north of Eastlake Boulevard in Washoe Valley.

— McCarran Boulevard, in two locations, one near North Virginia Street and one near Mira Loma Drive

— USA Parkway, in multiple locations, including near U.S. 50 and directly south of the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

— Slide Mountain Road (State Route 878) near Mt. Rose Ski.

The new barrier and guardrails will replace existing guardrail and older barrier rail for enhanced safety and more efficient maintenance.
