On Thursday, the Brewery Arts Center shared the news that a new tenant has taken up residence at the Carson City Visitors Center.
‘Dirty Harry Downwinder’ is celebrating his 20-year anniversary this year after his creation as part of a large scale artist collaboration:
In 2005, the City of Reno and Artown collaborated on a large civic art project named “Counting Sheep”. Twenty-five local artists were selected and given creative liberty with big horn sheep sculptures to be exhibited throughout Reno. Artists were given the single requirement that they incorporated Nevada themes into their creation.
Over the years, the sheep have roamed out of the Reno City limits. At the height of the Counting Sheep project “Dirty Harry Downwinder” resided at the Sierra Arts Foundation, from there, he migrated south to Western Nevada College. For now, Dirty Harry has found home here at the Carson City Visitors Center.
“Dirty Harry Downwinder”, a documentary in art form, tells the story of the complex and controversial history of the Nevada Test Site, a former nuclear testing venue located in southeastern Nye County.
You can see Dirty Harry Downwinder in person at Visit Carson City’s location at 716 North Carson St.
Then, head to Suite A to see an ongoing show by Candida Webb happening now through September 26 in the BAC Satellite Gallery.
