Another couple stormy afternoons this weekend are in the forecast for Carson City and surrounding counties, with the potential for heavy rain, flash flooding, gusty winds, small hail and frequent lightning, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters advise thunderstorm activity will likely continue through Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms were beginning to form throughout the region Saturday afternoon and are expected to continue into the evening, according to NWS forecasters.
The best chances for storms will be in far western Nevada and the immediate Sierra (40-65 percent), with decreasing chances into the inner basin (30-50 percent), according to the weather service. The weak upper low aloft will slightly shift east Saturday, resulting in increased storm coverage for western Nevada and into the inner-basin compared to the last few days.
Similar to Friday, other hazards may include gusty outflow winds, frequent lightning, small hail and possible dust storms, forecasters said.
Weather models show continued chances for storms Sunday, but with lower chances (20-35 percent) and coverage compared to Saturday as the upper low moves out of the area, according to the weather service.
