The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has received the results of the DNA testing on the human remains found June 23, 2014 near Spooner Summit. The person has been identified as Ryan Wallace Osburn age 32. The investigation concluded Osburn died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
On June 23, 2014 the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of human remains in King Canyon, near Spooner Summit. Investigators recovered the remains of Osburn, personal property, a handgun, projectile and shell. The remains had been subjected to heavy animal predation which required the identification of the remains by DNA analysis and comparison to family members.
At the time of his death Osburn was a resident of Reno and prior to residing in Reno he was from Ocala, Florida. Osburn listed his occupation as a professional gambler.
