Two were arrested Sunday for felony possession of having personal identifying information such as IDs, birth certificates and passports that didn’t belong to them, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Sharice Paris, 45, and Michael Bradham, 48, both of Reno, were arrested following an investigation. Paris was also booked for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. Both were also booked for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the booking report, at around 10:24 p.m. a deputy was patrolling the area of Highway 50 East and College Parkway when they observed a disabled Dodge vehicle with the emergency lights on, blocking the turn lane to go northbound on College Parkway. The officer pulled in behind the Dodge and activated their red and blue emergency lights.

The officer walked up to the vehicle and made contact with Bradham, standing outside the vehicle. The deputy asked what ws wrong. The man stated the vehicle was overheating and said he just needed a few minutes and he would be able to turn the vehicle and move it out of the turn lane, the report states.

A few second later, the man asked the deputy to block traffic so he could push his van to the shoulder. The officer noticed the man was sweating and seemed nervous and was trying to create distance between them, according to the report. The officer asked for his driver’s license. The man said he only had a piece of paper with his identification information on it. The deputy conducted a warrant check on the man and learned he had a non-extradictable felony warrant out of Texas for fraud and impersonation and for credit card or debit card fraud.

Another officer made contact with the female passenger, who was in the back of the van. She was asked to step out of the van. She was asked if she had any identification on her. She said she only had a piece of paper with her identification information on it. The deputy conducted a warrant check and was advised she had a non-extraditable misdemeanor warrant, the report states.

A K-9 did a free-air sniff of the vehicle with negative results. The man was asked for consent to search the vehicle in which he replied yes. During the search officers located multiple casino membership cards with different names. The officer asked who they belonged to. The man said they belonged to his friends he was gambling with the night prior. The woman was asked if her purse could be searched. She replied yes. The officer did not locate any contraband.

The man was read his Miranda warning. He said he understood and wished to speak. A deputy asked the man what was in the center console. The man said he did not know what it was but he was taking multiple supplements such as creatine, the report states.

The deputy advised it was not creatine that was located. The man ultimately said the contraband was methamphetamine. He said it belonged to a friend that was in his vehicle the night before. The deputy asked if there was anything else in the vehicle. He said there was a smoking pipe and possibly a tooter straw, the report states.

The woman was read her Miranda warning. She said she understood and would speak. She was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. She said there wasn’t. The deputy asked who the methamphetamine belonged to. She denied that it was hers and said she did not want to talk any further, the report states.

The officer requested a tow for the Dodge and conducted an inventory search of the vehicle. During the search deputies located multiple purses. In each purse, deputies located identification cards or passports that did not belong to any person related to the traffic stop.

Paraphernalia was also located in two of the purses as were multiple identification cards, multiple passports, birth certificates, a copy of a social security card and multiple casino membership cards, the report states.

None of these identification cards or passports belonged to Bradham and Paris. Officers also located, next to the driver seat, a black backpack with a flashlight, gloves, a screwdriver and a pry tool, which the officer writes that based on training and experience, these were burglary tools, the report states.

Both were taken into custody and jailed. Bail is $20,000 each.

In other arrests:
— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 11:23 a.m. for domestic battery. According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to a residence regarding a battery. The suspect reportedly grabbed a female and ripped her shirt. Officers had previously spoken to the couple earlier in a domestic dispute call.

When deputies arrived a person opened the door to the residence and were told the couple were both in the bedroom. The two were yelling at each other and officers saw the woman’s brown tank top had been torn from the right strap. Due to the man continuing to yell, he was detained and placed into cuffs, the report states.

The man told officers he grabbed the shirt but not the female. He claimed his hand caught on the shirt and it ripped. He continued to say he did not grab her but did grab the shirt by pulling it down, according to the report.

Officers spoke with the woman who said they were in an argument and that he pushed her and ripped her shirt. She was checked for injuries where there were approximately two inch long scratch marks believed to be from the man attempting to rip her shirt, according to the report.

The man was arrested for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 56-year-old Sparks man, Thomas Borst, was arrested Saturday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and owning/possession a gun by a prohibited person. Both are felony offenses. Bail: $20,000.

— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 11:09 a.m. for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI second offense and driving without a valid driver’s license.

According to the booking report, a deputy was in the area of North Roop Street and Northridge Drive and observed a vehicle approaching Northridge fail to obey a traffic control device. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver.

She was informed of the reason for the stop. She provided the deputy with current registration and insurance. She stated she does not have a license due to a DUI. While speaking the officer observed the woman to have red watery eyes and appeared to be sweating profusely, the report states. The officer returned to their vehicle and ran the driver’s name for wants and warrants. She returned clear.

When the officer returned, the woman was crying. The officer asked what was wrong. She stated she called her child’s father to inform him she got pulled over. She then stated she had just had a baby and didn’t want to leave.

The officer asked why she would leave her child and she stated that the officer was going to throw her in jail. The officer asked why they would take her to jail. She stated she didn’t know. At this time, the deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The deputy asked the woman if she had been drinking that day. The woman stated “no, I drank last night” and “I was hungover this morning.”

The deputy asked the woman to step out of her vehicle to speak near the patrol vehicle. During this time, the officer confirmed the odor of alcohol coming from her person. The deputy requested a second deputy to respond in order to start standard field sobriety tests, the report states.

The woman submitted to the tests and stated she drank 99 Bananas alcoholic beverage at around 3 a.m. that morning. She showed clues of impairment on the tests and consented to a preliminary breath test. She was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Officers located three 99 Bananas alcoholic beverages inside the woman’s purse.

She was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and agreed to evidentiary breath tests, with results of .157 and .148. She had a previous DUI conviction in July 2018 with Reno Justice Court. Bail: $2,500.

— A 24-year-old Pacoima, Calif., man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon, metal knuckles. Bail: $2,500.

— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 3:35 p.m. for suspicion of domestic battery second offense and violation of a suspended sentence, both misdemeanor offenses.

According to the booking report, deputies were called to the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive for a report of a domestic battery. Dispatch advised the reporting party was being battered by his girlfriend, and that he said she threatened to stab him.

Officers arrived and spoke with the victim who stated he and his girlfriend were in an argument and that she pushed him and hit him on his head around 20 times. The officer inspected the man’s head and observed slight redness and swelling on the left side of his head, the report states.

The deputy also spoke with the woman who denied hitting the man. The deputy observed the woman’s hands were red and had redness on her right knuckles. She was asked if she could explain the redness on her hand and the mark the man’s head. This time she admitted to punching the man after he told her he was going to take their child away because she was a bad mother. She said she went to grab her son and the man wouldn’t let her. She said this upset her and that is why she punched him, the report states.

She was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery second offense and violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $3,137.
