A 61-year-old woman was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI drugs second offense, driving with a revoked license and possession a dangerous drug without a prescription, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

A CCSO deputy was called to the area of North Saliman and East William in an attempt to locate a possible DUI driver. Dispatch advised the driver was in a black sedan and had fallen asleep behind the wheel at the intersection. The reporting party (RP) stated that when the driver woke up, she was speeding, swerving and cutting off other drivers.

The RP and traffic cameras were able to follow the suspect driver to the intersection of US-50 East and Airport Road, with the driver then spotted turning west onto East Nye Lane from Airport Road.

A deputy located the vehicle parked in front of a residence, approximately seven minutes after they had initially been dispatched. As the deputy approached the front door they noticed a male sitting in a chair and a female holding a purse. The report notes the front door was open and the deputy could see through the screen door.

The deputy asked if the owner of the black vehicle was inside. The male stated it was his sister’s car. The deputy asked if they could speak with her. A female, later identified as the suspect driver, came to the door. The officer asked her to step outside in which she complied. The deputy advised the reason he was there. The woman stated she had no recollection of the events, the report states.

The deputy observed the woman had watery, droopy eyes and spoke with a thick, heavy tongue and slurred speech. She had a difficult time walking and was staggering and swaying while walking. When the woman stood still, she would continuously move, fidget and bobbed and swayed her head and hands. There was, however, no odor of alcohol.

The deputy recognized the signs listed as an individual who may be intoxicated. The deputy asked if she would submit to a preliminary breath test. She agreed. The result was .000. The officer then asked for permission to search her car. She freely gave consent. Inside the deputy located an unopened bottle of methadone, the report states.

The officer then discovered a small black lock box in the rear passenger compartment. The woman stated it was her take-home methadone lock box. The key was retrieved and the woman showed the deputy which key to unlocked the box. Inside was a second unopened bottle of methadone. The deputy asked if they could search her purse. She gave consent and the deputy found five Alprazolam pills, a drug obtained only by prescription, which she was unable to produce or verify she had received from a doctor. She identified the pills as Xanax, not Alprazolam. The officer asked if she would submitted to standardized field sobriety testing. She stated should would, according to the report.

The woman showed signs of impairment on the tests and was arrested. She was read the request for evidentiary testing. She agreed to submit to an evidentiary blood test and was taken to the hospital for evaluation and a blood draw. Bail: $2,500.
