Helicopter mosquito abatement treatments are planned for Thursday, July 18 in the areas of Anderson, Buzzy Ranch, Riverview Park, Linear Ditch and ponds east of I-580, according to Carson City Health and Human Services.

The helicopter is for aerial treatments of standing water areas. These treatments are part of an ongoing effort to control the mosquito population and reduce the risk of mosquito-borne diseases.

In addition to the aerial treatments, Carson City Health and Human Services recommends residents take preventative measures to protect themselves from mosquito bites.

This includes using a good quality insect repellent, eliminating standing water around your home, and ensuring that window and door screens are intact to keep mosquitoes out of homes.
