The Third and Curry Farmer’s Market, held every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. through September, drew a large crowd of hundreds this morning as events held around Carson City celebrate Independence Day weekend.

Visitors enjoyed a hearty breakfast, courtesy of The Do Drop In, which served up waffles loaded with strawberries and whipped cream, as well as huge fruit kabobs.

Hot or iced java was served by Comma Coffee, while live music provided a light-hearted and relaxed atmosphere in the coolness of mature shade trees.

Dozens of vendors offered food fare traditional for a Fourth of July cook-out.

From produce stands loaded with fresh strawberries and corn on the cob, to pastry vendors with stacks of fruit pies, to meat suppliers featuring sausages, ribs and steaks, the Saturday Farmer’s Market teemed with choices to meet the demand of holiday shoppers.

The Saturday Morning Third and Curry Farmer’s Market runs until 1 p.m. today, giving way to the monthly Downtown Business Association Wine Walk from 1 to 5 p.m. this afternoon.
