At its meeting of July 3, 2025, the Carson City Board of Supervisors will consider introduction of an ordinance adopting the 2024 building code.
Currently, the city utilizes the 2018 building code. In order to help the community understand what this change could mean and to obtain input, the Community Development Department is hosting a community meeting on June 17, 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Studio at Adams Hub, located at 177 West Proctor Street.
According to building official James Wentworth “the changes to the building codes are intended to further protect Carson City residents’ safety, health and welfare.”
During the community meeting, the building official will review the changes that will be implemented if the Board adopts the updated codes. For example, door and window replacements that do not change the opening size or location will no longer be exempt from a permit.
There will be time during the meeting for community questions and input.
