The Carson High School (CHS) Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) has been named the Most Outstanding Unit for Area 22, one of the highest honors awarded within the NJROTC program, and is now being considered as the Most Outstanding Unit in the Nation.

The recognition follows a year of exceptional achievement in academics, leadership development, community service and program growth. The award is based on the Navy’s strategic priorities of People, Partnerships, Power and Platforms, which emphasize student success, community engagement, organizational effectiveness and program excellence.

Several key performance indicators helped distinguish the Carson High School unit from its peers. Among them were a 100% SAT and ACT completion rate among eligible cadets, a 7.5% increase in program enrollment and an exceptional record of community service hours contributed throughout the school year.

The unit’s success also reflects a strong collaborative effort among NJROTC instructors, cadet leadership, school administrators, parents and community partners. Together, they have created a culture focused on academic achievement, character development, citizenship and service.

In addition to academic success and community involvement, Carson High cadets participated in leadership development activities, drill competitions, physical fitness events and service projects throughout the region. These experiences help prepare students for success in college, military service and future careers while reinforcing the values of integrity, responsibility and teamwork.

The Carson High School NJROTC program continues to be one of the school’s premier leadership organizations, providing students with opportunities to excel academically, serve their community and develop skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Area 22 includes NJROTC units across Nevada, California and several western states. Advancement to the national level places Carson High School among an elite group of programs being considered for the Navy’s highest NJROTC honor.

The NJROTC program aims to teach high school students the values of citizenship, leadership, character and community service while also providing a foundation for future careers in the military or other fields. The program is offered in more than 600 high schools across the United States, and the NJROTC Area Managers visit each unit once a year to conduct inspections.
