Join us for the next LGBTQ+ & Friends Social at Red’s Old 395 Grill on Saturday, June 6 from 2 to 5 p.m. as we celebrate Pride Month here in Carson City.
The Socials offer a fun, safe environment to meet other local LGBTQ+ folks and our friends. An afternoon of food, conversation, and community. There are no agendas – no speakers. Conversations are free flowing. Everyone is welcome.
Know that most everyone has some awkward and anxious feelings as they walk through the door. Those first few moments will melt away. You will know you are in the right place.

Most new people do not know another LGBTQ+ person living in their area.
You are not alone.
“I’ve lived in Carson City for a couple of years. I hadn’t met any gay people here. At my first Social, I met a couple of people who are good friends now. What I liked the most was just being able to talk or just listen.” The Socials have grown from 15 people at our first get together to 48 at our most recent one.

The private room at Red’s Old 395 Grill in Carson City is decorated with Pride flags, banners, and party favors. It just makes this a fun place to be with some goofy things that start you off laughing.
“I went to my first Social a month before Easter last year. There were sequined disco bunnies, eggs filled with candy, and so many Pride flags that it felt like I was in the middle of a parade. Seriously. It looked like a unicorn threw up all over the place which just cracked me up.”
Everyone gets a drawing ticket as they walk into the event. You can buy more or just enjoy the one you’re given. “The drawing prizes are amazing. From tickets to the Carson City Symphony to the Reno Chamber Orchestra, the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company of Carson City to the Reno Philharmonic; original art from the
Nevada Artists Association and gift certificates for Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint as well as Red’s Old 395 Grill.”
Saturday, June 6 2-5 p.m., Red’s Old 395 Grill, Carson City, $25/person
Buy your tickets today: www.nevadalgbtq.com. Some free student tickets available as well as some free tickets for those who couldn’t otherwise afford to attend.
Send requests to wvnlgbtq@gmail.com. First come, first served. Your privacy is respected.
Side note: A central goal of the LGBTQ+ rights movement has always been to be
accepted and recognized in the communities around us. There’s a saying: “If you want a seat at the table, you can’t just serve yourself.”
In the past few years, the Social raised money for a mix of organizations. We’re proud supporters of the Advocates to End Domestic Violence providing funds, dry goods, and food. We’ve contributed nearly $4,000 to Nevada Pride. We donated enough money to a statewide food drive to provide over 6,500 meals for Nevadans in need from Ely to Las Vegas. We’re good neighbors.
