For years, Vault Foundation founder Jill Larson has built spaces where women could step into confidence and become who they were meant to be. Through past experiences — especially in fitness and business — she saw firsthand how powerful it is when even one person believes in you. Sometimes that belief becomes the borrowed confidence someone needs until they can find their own.
As she looked around her own business life, she realized many of the businesses she trusted and supported were women-owned. She began asking: What if there were a circle where women could meet trusted women, build genuine relationships, and rise together? Not another networking room. Not surface-level referrals. Not forced transactions. But a real community rooted in trust, word-of-mouth connection, support, and shared growth.
That vision became The Vault. Alongside her daughter-in-law and co-founder, Mirette Miller, they began with a small group of women they already knew and respected. Entry was by relationship and referral.
The focus was simple: spotlight incredible women, celebrate their businesses and create meaningful connections. From there, referrals and opportunities could happen naturally — grassroots, authentic, and earned through trust.
The Carson City area nonprofit continues its focus by providing education, mentorship and strategic connections for women in business and leadership. They also host monthly meetings and events at the Brewery Arts Center.
At its core, The Vault is built on one belief: A rising tide raises all ships. When women pour into one another, everyone grows — personally, professionally, and emotionally. As The Vault evolved, it became clear this was bigger than a networking group. It was a movement with real impact.
That realization led to becoming a nonprofit — so the mission could grow in a way that serves the community, not any one individual. The founder describes this work as the most fulfilling thing she has ever done.
Creating the meetings, building the platform, and watching women connect gives her life in a way nothing else has. And in her words, maybe she needs the women in the room just as much as they need her. So she’ll keep giving what she calls “borrowed confidence” until every woman fully believes in herself — and then helps raise someone else, too.
In January, Jill, Mirette, and the Women of the Vault put on their first women’s retreat, The Power of You. The weekend was curated around four core pillars: financial strength, spiritual grounding, personal wellness, and confident leadership. The day blended education, strategy, wellness, and community in a program built to support the whole woman. The proceeds from donations and ticket sales went to support local non-profit, Xquisite.
The Vault has grown in a year with the mission of cultivating leaders by providing education, mentorship, and strategic community connection so they can build sustainable businesses and shape the future of our community. In the future, The Vault Foundation hopes to expand it’s mission to include a men’s chapter.
