Carson Now Reader Lisa Shadden provided the following info and photos regarding an early morning fire Thursday:
At about 06:40am on Thursday May 14, 2026, CCFD Engine 51 and crew responded to a trash fire in the parking lot adjacent to Treadway Park in Carson City.
A Waste Management vehicle had apparently offloaded a large mound of burning debris onto the asphalt. Significant damage to the truck was observed.
After several minutes, the fire fighters successfully extinguished the blaze and then turned their attention to the still intensely hot, dousing it in water and sending up plumes of steam. Within a few hours, the sight was cleared. No apparent injury. Thank you, Carson City Fire Fighters!
