The Heart of Nevada Pageant at the Nevada State Fair is currently accepting contestants ahead of the June 4 pageant. Contestants can be any age, and include both boys and girls as well as women.
In addition to the traditional pageants, there will also be “Just for Fun” Mommy and Me and Best Friend contests.
“Heart of Nevada is a preliminary natural pageant for Sierra America Nationals and part of the Silver State Pageant system,” said Director Cecelia Merrell. “Our pageants have a hometown feel, a little more relaxed than some of the other systems out there.”
Heart of Nevada wants to help girls, boys and women come out of their shell by learning grace, poise, public speaking and courage.
“We encourage beauty from within, as a natural pageant where lots of makeup and expensive outfits are not necessary to win,” said Merrell. “Once part of our system Princesses, Queens, Princes and Kings are encouraged to serve the community. Silver State Pageant’s motto is ‘Compassion, Confidence and Community.’“
This will be the second year for the Heart of Nevada Pageant, and they chose to partner with the Nevada State Fair because pageants and fairs simply go hand in hand, according to Merrell.
“I believe it will be beneficial for both of us,” said Merrell. “We have local contestants as well as some traveling from neighboring states.”
The pageant takes place during the Nevada State Fair hosted on June 4, 2022 in the Marv Teixeira Pavillion at Mills Park in Carson City.
Entry costs are $150, with multi-entry discounts available.
