A Fox Family Group, the company behind The Fox Restaurant & Brewery in Carson City, has acquired Flat Earth Pizza and plans to relaunch the East William Street restaurant as Fox & Fire Pizzeria & Taproom.

The acquisition was completed through Fox & Fire Hospitality LLC, which handled the asset purchase and lease for the restaurant at 2010 E. William St. The asset purchase was completed in May, and A Fox Family Group is scheduled to take possession Aug. 1.

Flat Earth Pizza will continue operating under its current name and ownership through July 31. After A Fox Family Group takes possession, the restaurant will continue operating under the Flat Earth Pizza name during a 60- to 90-day transition period while Fox & Fire Pizzeria & Taproom systems, branding and staffing are put in place.

Fox & Fire Pizzeria & Taproom will be A Fox Family Group’s third operating concept and its first dedicated pizza and taproom concept. The company also operates The Fox Restaurant & Brewery in Carson City and Midtown Reno.

Fox & Fire will serve 18-inch New York-style pizzas, daily slices, smoked wings and Fox craft beer on draft. The beer will be self-distributed from The Fox’s brewery.

“We’re not just converting a pizza shop. We’re building a craft concept with real identity behind it — beer we brew, dough we make, and a team we train ourselves,” said Jim Phalan, founder of A Fox Family Group.

The transition will be led by Phalan and Executive Chef Albert, who the company said has been developing a New York-style pizza dough recipe made with the group’s Seamus O’Faolain Irish Red Ale.

The company also plans to open a hidden bar at the location in September. The bar will feature Fox handcrafted beer on draft.

A Fox Family Group was founded by Phalan and operates The Fox Restaurant & Brewery in Carson City, which opened in 2008, and Midtown Reno, which opened in 2023. The group brews its own craft beer in Carson City and self-distributes across its locations.
