An earthquake Saturday morning with a magnitude of 3.5 near Silver Springs was recorded by the U.S. Geological Survey and Nevada Seismological Laboratory.

The quake happened at 7:09 a.m. southeast of Silver Springs in Lyon County followed by three aftershocks of 1.6 , 1.8 and 1.2 magnitude.

This latest quake follows the much larger one early Friday morning, which measured 5.2 magnitude. The quake is part of a series of earthquake swarms in the region that began April 13 with a 5.7 magnitude quake.
