A previous opinion letter submitted to Carson Now is prompting this response.
Although Rep. Amodei and I have widely differing opinions on various topics, especially with regard to the disposition of wild horses and burros, I have found him to be very responsive and generally in alignment with the will of the majority of northern Nevada voters.
His positions seem very moderate to me; and he seeks to continually balance politically conservative viewpoints with those of the left.
I’m very supportive of the cleansing and streamlining of the Federal government which will only make local involvement that much more significant, especially in light of a potentially expanded funding stream.
I wouldn’t want Rep. Amodei’s job however as it is consistently thankless. I wonder how many letters he gets praising him for his service to our community.
In an era of needed reform, I intend to be patient and supportive to give new policies time to work.
