Effective Monday, May 4, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will return to normal work status in the operations of records and administration services, according to a news release Thursday from Sheriff Frank Hunewill.

The sheriff said LCSO will continue safe operation practices and social distancing within the facilities.

“We have all had to change the way we operate due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We limited some essential services for a 30-day period, but we feel that we owe it to the citizens we service to reinstate those services,” according to the news release.

“Due to the nature of our business, that being a 24/7 operation, we believe we are causing a great deal of confusion in the public by limiting services,” the sheriff’s release states. “The LCSO would ask that the public continue to practice social distancing and situational awareness. We all need to keep up-to-date on the Governor’s Directives as they come out and work together to get Lyon County back on its feet.”

Among the items listed in the news release:

— Patrol functions shall remain in normal operation status

— Area substations in Fernley, Dayton and Silver Springs will be open to the public Monday through Friday.

— The main office in Yerington will be open to the public Monday through Friday normal hours.

— LCSO will also begin processing CCW permits

— Sex offender registrations can be processed

— Civil operations will continue as normal

— We are going to continue with suspension of the VIP services at this time.
