Dark Prison Haunt has unfortunately been forced to cancel tonight’s free family event by the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society over a contractual issue.
Their statement is as follows:
We are so sorry to announce that tonightโs event featuring Hollow Mountain has been cancelled immediately. We did not have the proper approvals or contracts in place to host this event, and we must respect that process.
We sincerely apologize to Hollow Mountain โ you deserve better, and this is on us entirely. And to everyone who had plans to come out tonight, we are so sorry for the last-minute notice. We know your time is valuable.
We hope to get proper permissions and reschedule. As our goal is to inspire the youth and integrate into the community of Carson. But we must do so another time.
Thank you for your understanding. ๐ค

Hollow Mountain will announce when / if the tour can be rescheduled at a later date, with spots provided first to the families who were already registered for this event.
Go behind the screams! Join Hollow Mountain Workshops and Dark Prison Haunt for an insider tour of the Dark Prison Haunt at the Historic Nevada State Prison in Carson City and see how the minds behind the largest Haunted House in Northern Nevada are able to turn empty rooms into living, breathing nightmares.
The tour will take place from 6 – 7 p.m. on site at the Nevada State Prison facility that is currently being transformed into the Halfway to Halloween Mother’s Day weekend haunted house event.
This event is intended to be for teens (middle school and above) and their adult family members — while Hollow Mountain’s Behind-the-Scenes are informative, and will be lead by members of the Dark Haunt team, they still will involve checking out all the the spooky, creepy, and gore-filled things Dark Prison Haunt has to offer.
This event is free but registration is required: sign up here!
There are two other all ages Behind-the-Scenes tours available during Hollow Mountain’s five-week pilot program through the end of May at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office with Sheriff Ken Furlong and City Hall with Mayor Lori Bagwell. Learn more here.
Hollow Mountain is hosting all ages workshops throughout May at the Brewery Arts Center ranging from Apocalypse Survival Response to Potion-Making, Creative Writing to Game Design, Babysitting to Small Business Marketing, Toddler gardening to teen car ownership basics, and everything in between!
