By Denise Clodjeaux — Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City will learn about the new robotic surgery technology that was recently added at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center at the club’s next meeting. The luncheon takes place Tuesday, April 22, at noon, in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 West King Street, Carson City. The public is invited to attend.
General Surgeon Matt Hofeldt, and Director of Perioperative Services Wes Frye, RN, will speak about the technology commonly referred to as the daVinci DV5.

The daVinciDV5 can be used in procedures such as hernia operations, gallbladder surgeries, colon/intestinal surgery, stomach cases, bariatric procedures, anti-reflux procedures, lung surgery, prostate removal, kidney surgery, hysterectomies, ovarian procedures, pancreas surgery, and even heart procedures.
“The robotic technology allows for better visualization and increased precision, which I believe can lead to a better surgery.” Hofeldt explains. “I have been able to do more complicated and advanced surgery without having to make a bigger incision which benefits the patient by reducing pain and giving them a faster recovery.”
The technology can also mean a shorter hospital stay as compared to traditional techniques.
