A group of 20 enthusiastic students from Carson High School’s chapter of Future Farmers of America (FFA) recently attended the 2025 Nevada State FFA Convention and returned with several recognitions for the growing chapter.

Throughout the convention, students took part in leadership workshops and competed in a range of challenging Career and Leadership Development Events (CDEs/LDEs), including Nursery and Landscape, Environmental and Natural Resources, Horse Evaluation, Agricultural Mechanics, Veterinary Science and Floriculture.

Max Bushey at FFA State. He was elected as the 2025–2026 Nevada FFA State President.

Among the many accomplishments, the Horse Evaluation team stood out by earning 3rd High Team in a highly competitive event where the top three teams were separated by just 50 points — a remarkably close finish.

Five students earned their State FFA degrees.

This contest tested students’ knowledge of horse breeds, anatomy and physiology, judging classes of horses, public speaking on class evaluations and a written exam on tack and horse equipment.

The Veterinary Science team also impressed, securing 6th High Team honors in one of the most rigorous contests in the FFA. In addition, the Homesite Evaluation team took home 2nd High Team, further showcasing the chapter’s strength in multiple disciplines.

A particularly proud moment for the chapter came when Maximilian Bushey was elected as the 2025–2026 Nevada FFA State President, marking the first time a member from the school’s young chapter has achieved the honor. Max’s leadership, dedication and passion for agricultural education truly stood out, and his success is an inspiration to members old and new.

Adding to the celebration, five students earned their State FFA Degrees, the highest honor the state association can bestow. Out of more than 2,000 FFA members statewide, only 48 received this prestigious recognition in 2025. Congratulations to Max Bushey, Lauren Davis, Gloria Dooley, Tanner McCune and Alex Nerska.
