The Board of Directors of the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society has announced dates for the 2022 Tour Season of the historic Nevada State Prison in Carson City.

The Nevada State Prison has an extensive history within Carson City, beginning as the site of the first meetings of the Territorial Legislature, and quickly becoming the Territorial Prison in 1862. With statehood in 1864, it became the Nevada State Prison, and was the only state prison in Nevada until the late 1950s. Until its closing in 2012, Nevada State Prison was one of the oldest prisons still operating in the entire country.

22 dates are available, with four tours each day at 10 a.m. 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 each. The dates are:

— May: Saturday the 7th, Saturday the 21st, Saturday the 28th, Sunday the 29th, and Monday (Memorial Day) the 30th.

— June: Saturday the 4th, and Saturday the 18th

— July: Saturday the 2nd, Sunday the 3rd, Monday (Independence Day) the 4th, and Saturday the 16th.

— August: Saturday the 6th, and Saturday the 20th.

— September: Saturday the 3rd, Sunday the 4th, Monday (Labor Day) the 5th, and Saturday the 17th.

— October: Saturday the 1st, Saturday the 15th, and the Season Finale for Nevada Day Weekend — Friday the 28th, Saturday the 29th, and Sunday the 30th.
