On Wednesday, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office announced detectives had identified Manuel Eusebio Lopez-Gomez as the suspect in the April 10, 2025 homicide of a resident of Incline Village, and he had been located in Kern County, California.

WSCO deputies responded to a call of a deceased person on April 10, 2025 at approximately 10:42 p.m. Upon discovering the body, detectives took over the scene and later determined it to be homicide.

However, no other information has been released about the case at this time.

According to WSCO, the California Highway Patrol located and stopped Lopez-Gomez in Kern County. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Kern County Jail before being extradited April 16 to the Washoe County Jail.

He is facing a charge of Open Murder.

This is just one of several homicides in the last few years in the village with a population of around 9,100 residents.

Just in the last six years, there have been four homicides in Incline Village, and in the past 25 years, a total of seven.

More than half occurred in the last two years alone, indicating a disturbing increase for a town of its size.

In 2023, population estimated around 9,150 people. Demographically, residents are older with a higher income than the average Washoe County citizen, with a median age of 47 and a median income of $162,821.

In addition to the higher wealth and property values than surrounding communities, it also boasts a higher homicide rate.

While the population of Incline Village is far smaller than the surrounding areas of Carson City, Douglas County, and Washoe County as a whole (of which Incline Village is a part), with four homicides/suspicious deaths occurring since 2016, that puts its homicide rate far higher:

In addition, the method of homicide is far different.

In 2022, Washoe County as a whole experienced 26 murders, with 84.6% utilizing a firearm.

In comparison, all but one of the village’s homicides have been caused by stabbing or blunt-forced trauma, with the exception of the unsolved 2004 pedestrian hit-and-run homicide of 62-year-old Incline resident Joe Borgerding.

October 5, 2009: Charles Alan Baymiller, 73, was stabbed to death over 200 times by his wife in their Lakeshore Dr. home. Charles Baymiller was found deceased in the couple’s bed while wife Mary Baymiller, 72 at the time, was found laying on her stomach with several stab wound that appeared self-inflicted. Multiple kitchen knives were used in the homicide. The warrant for her arrest stated she was potentially suffering from mental anguish over Charles Baymiller’s onset of dementia and worries about money, and the couple’s son told deputies his mother had been having panic attacks and mental breakdowns. She was arrested January 20, 2010 at her second residence in Fresno, California. In May 2011, she was sentenced to two consecutive terms of 22 to 96 months, but the sentences were both suspended and she was placed on probation. It was argued she had attempted to overdose on prescription medication prior to the incident, and doctors during the trial testified that the crime was a result of ingesting medication.
