UPDATE SATURDAY 7:45AM: The cause of a brush fire that happened Friday night in the hills above Bonanza Drive near Conestoga Drive is under investigation, according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief.

There were no structures involved in the fire, which was around 15 feet by 15 feet in size along a power line road stretch. Nearby residences helped extinguish the fire by the time firefighters arrived, said CCFD Battalion Chief Matt Cooper. There were reports of fireworks in the area. The cause is under investigation.

Update: At 9:15 the call was updated to a structure fire in the 100 block of Conestoga Drive.

Just after 9 p.m. Friday several units were called to a reported brush fire in the 800 block of W. Bonanza Drive in N. Carson City.

According to dispatch the reporting party stated the fire was caused by fireworks and that someone was “possibly throwing gasoline onto the fire” as well.

Avoid the area while fire department personnel is one scene.
