By Rich Dunn — The topic at Monday’s Democratic luncheon will be the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation (FCCPR). The Foundation supports projects that enhance indoor and outdoor recreational facilities and public use areas under the administration of the City’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department.
Foundation-supported projects, past and present, include the Mills Park pickleball courts, the Carson City Tennis Club, Mayors’ Park, the Saliman Road pathway improvements, the Carson Ridge disc golf course, the Lone Mountain Cemetery headstone project, Carson City gun range improvements, improvements to the Sonoma and Fuji Park dog parks, and the Wungnema House.
This event is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, April 14th, and can either be attended in person at Seven Grille, inside Max Casino, or online via Zoom.
The Foundation’s president had been mentioned in previous announcements as the presenter, but he has now cancelled, so here’s hoping that another member of the board will step in to walk those interested through the many achievements of this little-known but highly effective civic group.
As is our custom, the featured presentation will begin at 1:30 PM. Those wishing to be on distribution for luncheon Zoom links and videos should contact Rich Dunn at richdunn@aol.com. These luncheons are sponsored by the Carson City Democratic Central Committee and are open to the public.
