The Carson City School District Board of Trustees will convene Tuesday evening to review the tentative budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year and consider authorizing potential staff layoffs. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on April 14, 2026, in the Robert Crowell Board Room at the Community Center.

A primary focus of the meeting will be a discussion and possible action to authorize Superintendent Andrew Feuling to issue a Reduction in Force (RIF) notice.

Due to financial constraints, the potential layoffs could impact several classified and certified positions, including teachers, social workers, administrative assistants, Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSA), and intervention paraprofessionals according to the agenda.

If approved, the board may also direct staff to pursue voluntary or directed transfers to fill available vacancies.

At the time of agenda publication, no additional supplementary material was available. We will keep the public updated as more information is made available.

Budget and other items

Prior to the layoff discussion, Spencer Winward and Superintendent Feuling will present the district’s tentative budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Goals for the 2026 Calendar Year; and approval of the Superintendent’s
Evaluation Form for the 2026 Calendar Year.

Additionally, representatives from Carson Middle School, Eagle Valley Middle School, and Carson High School will deliver their annual reports on student programs, supports, and celebrations.
