The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce the launch of a new Community Crime Portal, replacing its previous Crime Mapping version.

This user-friendly online resource allows residents access to information about crime and public safety information in Carson City. Access to the Crime Portal can be made through the Sheriff’s Office website under “Crime in our area.”

The newest portal reflects the Sheriff’s Office’s ongoing commitment to provide advanced technology, transparency, community engagement, and public access to information. The addition of this platform is the second direct transparency portals activated in August.

Through the Community Crime Portal, residents can explore crime data, traffic matters, and other response items to better understand criminal activity in their neighborhoods and throughout the community.

This interactive platform allows users to view data geographically, helping them identify crime trends and incidents in the areas that matter to them most. The portal will also allow residents to set up email alerts to remain updated about what is happening in their selected area of interest around town.

Sheriff Ken Furlong said that providing this technology access to the community was one of the department’s top priorities this summer.

In June, the newest public safety platform was launched after several years of research, development, and modeling by both fire and police representatives. Staff personnel gathered information and advancements in technology from across the country, compared numerous venders, and selected the Tyler Technology platform above all others.

Our community is one of our greatest partners in public safety. Providing residents with accessible and timely information helps keep the community informed and strengthens the partnership between the Sheriff’s Office and the people we serve.

The portal aims to give the community a convenient way to stay informed while supporting the Sheriff’s Office in its efforts toward data-driven policing, public transparency and safety awareness.
