Ten years ago, BOOnanza began as a couple dozen pop-up booths inside of the Carson City Community Center gym, where local businesses and community organizations offered candy to costumed kiddos.

However, the event was so popular that it very quickly outgrew its space. Now, thousands of children attend what has been dubbed Northern Nevada’s largest trick-or-treating event every year.

Tomorrow, Oct. 29, 2026 marks the 10th annual event, where families can trick-or-treat from more than 100 local businesses and organizations, grab some snacks at the food trucks, make spooky crafts at the Carson City Library and, new this year: roller-skate!

The fun begins at 4 p.m. and continues through 7 p.m. at Mills Park, 1111 East William Street.

Attendees can expect to find booths offering candy, games, toys, face-painting, or other fun family-friendly activities.

Food vendors include Fun with Food, the Bus Boy, Lady Griller Catering, Tacos Los Compas, NVious Bites, and Jamaica Jerk Spot.

New this year, Sierra Inline Hockey will host a skate night during BOOnanza inside the Marv Teixeira Pavillion. The cost is $10 per entry, and $3 for a skate rental (though availability is limited; if you have skates, be sure to bring them!)

The railroad is still out of commission this year as volunteers are working hard to fix up the 50+ year old mini-train.

Please be advised that parking is, to be frank, kind of a pain. If you have the ability to carpool or arrange drop-off / pick-up, I would advise it.

If not though, don’t worry: parking is free at the community center, aquatic facility, library and high school. The parking lot off Seely Loop (not the Loop itself) is reserved for ADA vehicles only.
