
A 21-year-old man was booked March 31 for suspicion of felony extortion and misdemeanor assault following an incident involving $30 owed in a marijuana sale, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Joseph Khan was taken into custody following an investigation in which the victim of an assault said he owed Khan $30 for two grams of marijuana that he borrowed from him a week ago.
The victim explained to CCSO deputies how the suspect demanded the money that was borrowed from him, tackled him and was told by the suspect that he had better get the money “or else” according to the report.
The victim stated Khan attempted to punch him while trying to leave, however didn’t connect. The deputy asked the victim if he wanted to press charges and the victim said yes.
The Carson City sheriff’s deputy contacted Khan where they agreed to meet. The officer arrived on scene and Khan was read his Miranda rights. He was asked if he wished to speak and he stated yes, the report states.
Following the interview with Kahn, the officer took him into custody and booked him for suspicion of felony extortion collection of debt and misdemeanor assault. Bail: $20,000.

— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested March 31 for a misdemeanor warrant alleging violation of court monitored supervision. Bail: $2,000 cash.
— A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested March 31 for suspicion of indecent or obscene exposure, a gross misdemeanor offense. According to the booking report, the woman allegedly exposed her breasts in public at a shopping center, at a nearby casino and a grocery store.
Deputies met with the woman who appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She did not answer questions asked by the officer, and would mutter utterances.
Deputies spoke with witnesses who confirmed they saw the woman expose herself. Bail: $5,000.
— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued March 2, 2023 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500 cash.
— A 42-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested Saturday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. Bail: $3,000.
— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, deputies were called to a report of a man harassing people in a restaurant parking lot. A deputy observed the man drive out of the parking lot onto North Carson, then put his car in reverse, and parked in front of the restaurant, getting out of his vehicle. A deputy stopped the man and could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his person. The man had red, watery eyes and slurred speech and swayed from side to side while deputies spoke with him, the report states.
The man agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on those tests. He provided a .230 preliminary breath test and was arrested. Bail: $1,137.
— A 37-year-old Carson City man, Bryan Dewayne Holt, was arrested Saturday for suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation, and the following alleged misdemeanors: failure to yield to emergency vehicle, reckless driving (exhibition of speed) and no drivers license in possession. Bail: $20,000.
