East Fork Fire Protection District firefighters in Douglas County were called to a vegetation fire the evolved from a controlled burn that reportedly had gotten out of control in the area of Johnson Lane and Highway 395 south of Carson City.
Douglas County dispatch received 911 calls at around 1:25 p.m. of a controlled burn that had spread to vegetation and to a telephone pole. Firefighters arrived near the intersection and saw a small area of flames. Firefighters had a line around the fire and were trying to get it knocked down as of 1:46 p.m.
A water tender was called to the scene. A firefighter told dispatch that he wanted to get enough water on the vegetation area, and a fire line of 3 to 4 acres, to prevent any spread.
