Carson City, Nev. (March 13, 2025) — Carson High School (CHS) Career and Technical Education (CTE) HOSA – Future Health Professionals – had 74 students and three advisors attend the State Leadership Conference March 5-7 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.

The students competed in a variety of medical competitive events against more than 1,400 students in Nevada. Carson High had 66 students advance to the second round and 40 qualified to attend the International Leadership Conference in Nashville, June 18-21, including four state champions. 

Hannah Budd took state for the Sports Medicine, Anne Davis took state for Home Health Aide, and as a team, Neva Mellow and Vivi Mellow took state for Forensics.

In addition to having four first-place finishers, the CHS chapter earned a Gold Level 100% Membership award for 100% of health science students as registered HOSA members.

Two CHS students also earned accolades for their creative contributions: Anne Davis won the t-shirt design and Kellyn Moyle won the pin design.

Additionally, Carson High HOSA’s own Chapter Vice President Maria Benshoof, was elected the 2025-2026 State Western Region Vice President. She will be working with the Nevada HOSA State Officer Team promoting Nevada HOSA, attending leadership trainings including the Washington Leadership Academy in the fall in Washington, D.C., and hosting the 2026 Nevada State Leadership Conference in Las Vegas. Carson High School’s Career and Technical Education program encompasses a vast number of classes and programs that teach today’s students the high demand skills needed to get a job.
