The Carson High School (CHS) Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) drill team earned first-place overall during a recent competition hosted on the Carson High campus, competing against seven participating units.

Carson cadets delivered strong performances across multiple events, taking first-place in personnel inspection, unarmed regulation, unarmed exhibition, armed exhibition and first-year squad drill.

The team also placed second in armed regulation and third in the color guard event. Their combined results secured the Carson High team first-place overall.

“The dedication our cadets show during practices and competitions continues to pay off,” said Major Dan Nardiello, NJROTC instructor at Carson High. “Their hard work, discipline and teamwork were clearly on display throughout the event.”

The competition was hosted at Carson High School and was supported by numerous volunteers who helped organize and run the event. Program leaders also expressed appreciation to the visiting schools that participated in the competition.

“We are grateful to all the schools that came to compete and be part of the event,” Major Nardiello continued. “Their involvement helped make it a great day of competition and camaraderie.”

The NJROTC program at Carson High aims to teach high school students the values of citizenship, leadership, character and community service, while also providing a foundation for future careers in the military or other fields. The program is offered in more than 600 high schools across the United States, and the NJROTC Area Managers visit each unit once a year to conduct inspections.
