A 28-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday for gross misdemeanor domestic battery after the suspect allegedly hit and kicked his pregnant girlfriend who is 5-weeks pregnant, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Following an investigation, deputies arrested Ricky Lee Jacobs. Deputies were called to a College Parkway address for a report of domestic battery. Deputies arrived and made contact with the victim who stated the suspect hit and kicked her. She advised she is pregnant with their child and that the suspect left on foot.

Deputies learned the girlfriend was in a room with her son and 2-year-old daughter sleeping when the man walked into the room and began yelling at her. Deputies asked what suspect was yelling about. She stated she didn’t know but that he was upset and started calling her names, the report states.

She told the officer she informed the man he needed to leave. At this time, she said the suspect slapped her across the right side of her face with an open left hand. While talking to the woman, deputies observed what appeared to be red fingerprint markings on the right side of her face consistent with a handprint.

The deputy then asked if anything else happened. The victim stated she was then kicked in the back by the suspect when she informed him she was calling law enforcement, according to the report.

The deputy asked if she had any marks or injuries on her back. She stated she didn’t know whether she had any but that she was uninjured. The deputy asked to take a look at her back. The officer did not see any marks or bruising on the woman’s back at that time. She then stated that her brother came out of the room and provided her with a phone to call law enforcement.

The suspect was later located at a Market Street casino by a deputy and was interviewed. The deputy asked him what happened. The suspect said he was out in the living room when he got up to go into the bedroom and noticed the walls had been drawn on by the kids, along with stuff all over the bed.

He stated that this upset him because he is the one who cleans the house, so he confronted his girlfriend about it. The deputy asked him if he ever hit or kicked the woman tonight and he replied “no, I would never do that,” the arrest report states.

The deputy asked him how the marks got on the woman’s face. He stated he did not know. The deputy asked him if he kicked the woman tonight in the hallway. He stated no, that he would never hit or kick a woman. The deputy then asked the man to tell them what happened again and asked if he knew how she got the marks on her face or why she would say that he did it. The man stated he did not know but he didn’t do it, according to the report.

Due to the statements made by the victim, along with the consistently of her story and markings on her face, the man was arrested for alleged domestic battery with an unborn child in common, a gross misdemeanor offense.
