Known for its history and old West charm, Virginia City is excited to announce its nomination for the Best Main Street for USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice awards. This recognition comes after the nomination of Best Cultural Festival for the World Championship Outhouse Races.

Serving as a testament to Virginia City’s commitment to preserving the 19th-century architecture and the vibrant culture that continues to make it a must-see destination, Virginia City is calling on residents, visitors and fans to vote and secure the title of Best Main Street. Voting is open daily through Monday, April 7, at 8:59 a.m. PST. To vote, visit link here.

“From our wooden boardwalks to saloons that have stood for over 160 years, every step through Virginia City tells a story,” said Todd Tuttle, tourism director. “C Street is where we host many of our iconic events, inviting the public to learn and experience the history of our town firsthand. Along with our nomination for Best Cultural Festival, we are honored to receive another nomination and would love to see Virginia City recognized as Best Main Street in the country.”

Virginia City’s historic C Street serves as the heart of the town, lined with locally owned shops, historic landmarks and lively saloons that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the history of the Comstock Lode.

Virginia City allows visitors to experience the town’s rich mining history through scenic train rides, mine and museum tours and many signature events. This nomination celebrates the town’s dedication to keeping the spirit of the West alive while continuing to welcome visitors from near and far. The community is encouraged to support Virginia City by voting daily and sharing the link with friends and neighbors to help secure the top spot. The deadline for voting is Monday, April 7, at 8:59 a.m.
