A 30-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an officer and a Department of Alternative sentencing violation, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Deputies responded at 11:12 p.m. to West Winnie Lane for a report of a man outside an apartment screaming and yelling. The reporting party identified the man to dispatch.

An arriving deputy walked around the apartment building to try to locate the man, who was found in between two vehicles. The deputy asked the man to come and speak with him, the report states.

The man came out, placing his hands into his pockets in his pants and jacket. A deputy asked the man to remove his hands out of his pockets for safety. Deputies were advised the man is known to have a knife on him and there was a bb gun in a car he may have taken from the vehicle, according to the report.

The man continued to put both hands into different pockets in his pants. A deputy gave the man multiple requests to take his hands out of his pockets. At this time, the man started to walk away from the deputy with his hands in his pockets, the report states.

The officer advised to dispatch he had the man at gunpoint and asked the man to stop. The man continued to walk away. After giving multiple verbal commands to take his hands out of his pockets and stop walking away, the deputy advised he would be tasered if he kept walking. The man was detained and placed into handcuffs.

Deputies began to investigate the scene, and located an empty can of aerosol dust and a can that was 3/4 empty, along the path the man walked. When the suspect was searched a full can of aerosol dust remover was found on his person. All three cans were of the same brand and size. Aerosol dust remover is commonly huffed/inhaled, in an attempt to get high.

The deputy advised dispatch the man was in possession of dust remover and DAS was advised, placing him on hold for violation of bail/pre-trial supervision. He had a condition of not using/possessing inhalants (dust remover). He was also arrested for obstruction based on his refusal to obey officer commands. Bail: $3,000 cash.
