During March for Meals, a monthlong celebration of the impact of senior nutrition programs, theĀ Carson City Senior CenterĀ is raising awareness of a critical need to feed our frail neighbors. Meals on Wheels provides essential meals to homebound seniors, and demand has reached a breaking point.
With over 300 seniors currently served each day and 100 vulnerable neighbors on the waiting list, the organization is urgently calling on community members to bridge funding gaps and end the waitlist for homebound neighbors.

As demand outpaces capacity, the Meals on Wheels program is more critical than ever. More than just a meal, these deliveries provide essential safety checks and companionship, allowing frail, homebound residents to maintain dignity and independence at home.
“Imagine having to tell someone who qualifies for services and is in critical need that they have to wait for a meal. Now times that by 100. This is the situation we are in. Our neighbors are waiting to know they haven’t been forgotten,” said Courtney Warner, Director at the Carson City Senior Center. “While we rely on grants, rising costs mean we need our community members to help us deliver the hope and nutrition these seniors deserve.”
