The Carson City School District is proud to honor two of its outstanding substitute teachers, Marvin McIntosh at Eagle Valley Middle School and Tyler Hounsell at Seeliger Elementary, for being recognized with the EduStaff Excellence Award, a distinction presented to substitute educators who demonstrate exceptional commitment, professionalism and positive impact in the classroom.
McIntosh was recognized at Eagle Valley Middle School and Hounsell was recognized at Seeliger Elementary School.

The EduStaff Excellence Award celebrates substitutes who go above and beyond to support students and staff, maintain continuity of instruction and foster welcoming, productive learning environments. Recipients are nominated based on their reliability, instructional skill, adaptability and dedication to student success.

“Substitute teachers play a vital role in keeping our schools running smoothly each day,” said Dan Sadler, chief human resources officer for the Carson City School District. “These two individuals exemplify extraordinary service to our educational community. Their flexibility, compassion and commitment ensure that learning continues uninterrupted, and students feel supported no matter the circumstance.”
Throughout the school year, both award recipients have consistently stepped into classrooms throughout the district, quickly building rapport with students and collaborating with school staff to maintain high academic and behavioral expectations. Their ability to adapt to different grade levels and subject areas has made them invaluable members of the district’s educational team.
EduStaff partners with school districts nationwide to provide high-quality substitute staffing and to recognize educators who demonstrate excellence in service.

The Carson City School District congratulates these exceptional educators and thanks all substitute teachers who dedicate their time and talents to serving students. Their contributions make a meaningful difference in classrooms across the district every day.
Substitute teachers earn $150 per day in Carson City. Those interested in becoming a substitute teacher in the Carson City School District should please reach out to Heather Smith, Nevada District Manager for EduStaff, 877-974-6338 ex. 1415, hsmith@edustaff.org, or apply here: EduStaff.
