Sunny and warm weather is expected through Thursday before sliding back into colder and wetter conditions around the Carson City and Lake Tahoe area Friday as two storm systems are expected to bring showers and snow through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather systems will start on the warmer side, transitioning colder by Friday morning, forecasters said, with a few thunderstorms possible. The second, colder, system Friday into Saturday will bring potential for light snow at all elevations.

The forecast in the Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas this week calls for partly sunny skies with daytime highs Wednesday in the mid 60s and Thursday in the lower 60s. There’s a chance of rain or snow showers late Thursday into Friday and then into Saturday, where daytime highs will dip into the low 40s with chances for snow showers.

For the Lake Tahoe Basin, highs will be in the upper 50s Wednesday, lower 50s Thursday with rain and snow likely late Thursday into Friday, with snow Friday afternoon and a chance of snow Saturday with a daytime high of 32.
