A 61-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday after drinking from a bottle of top shelf whiskey he allegedly stole from a William Street grocery store, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Andrew Alex Salazar was arrested at 10:04 p.m. for suspicion of felony burglary after the Tuesday night incident, in which he allegedly rubbed off the security sensor from a bottle of Maker’s Mark whiskey, broke the seal and drank a quarter of it.

A store employee attempted to stop Salazar from leaving the store. The suspect repeatedly made verbal threats that if the employee didn’t move out of his way, he would hurt him, according to the arrest report. There wasn’t any physical contact, the deputy noted.

Deputies arrived near the west entrance of the grocery store at 599 East William Street and found the suspect yelling at the store employee. The suspect was placed into handcuffs and provided a preliminary breath sample of .280.

The man had a prior felony conviction for robbery within the last 7 years, according to the arrest report. Bail: $2,500.

In other arrests:
— A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI after being stopped for going 30 mph over the speed limit, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was called to the intersection of South Roop and Little streets in an attempt to locate a possible intoxicated driver. Dispatch advised a gold four door sedan was the suspect vehicle.

A deputy observed a vehicle going at a high rate of speed in a 30 mph zone. The deputy activated his hand held radar that recorded the vehicle speed of 60 mph. The man was stopped at the intersection of East Fifth and Linda Kay Court.

The deputy met with the driver and could smell an odor of alcohol. He observed the man was unable to maintain his balance while standing still. He agreed to field sobriety tests.

Results led the officer to believe the man was drunk driving. He provided a breath sample of .309 at the time of the arrest. At jail he provided evidentiary breath tests of .257 and .266, according to the arrest report. Bail: $1,294.

— A 35-year-old Carson City woman, Nicole Marie Naef, was arrested at 1:07 a.m. Wednesday morning in the area of Division and Washington streets for two felony warrants issued out of Lyon County, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The warrants were issued Jan. 14, 2018. One warrant alleges forgery and the other, obtaining money under false pretenses. Bail: $50,000.

— A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 12:28 a.m. in the 1500 block of Como Street for misdemeanor suspicion of violation of alternative sentencing. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the location regarding an intoxicated female. The reporting party told dispatch the woman was in the roadway asking for help.

A deputy met with two people a man and a woman. A records check on the man showed he was under supervision through the Department of Alternative Sentencing with a “no alcohol” clause. The man provided a preliminary breath test of .110. Alternative Sentencing was advised and the man was booked for violation. Bail: $500.

— A 40-year-old Susanville man was booked into jail Wednesday, 1 a p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Tuesday, 1:45 p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Dec. 27, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

– A 56-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Tuesday, 5:57 p.m. for a misdemeanor warrant issued Feb. 23, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
