
This Friday, 39 employers will be available at the Carson City Community Center to meet with potential employees seeking a wide variety of career opportunities.
Also available will be 17 important resource companies to provide needed assistance on how to obtain training and assistance in seeking the right job.
Carson City Health and Human Services and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce will host a free community job fair on Friday, Feb., 26 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. for the general public. Veterans will be able to enter the Job Fair at 1:30 p.m. for early admission. The Job Fair will be located in the Large Gym at the Carson City Community Center on 851 East William Street, Carson City.
More than 35 employers and 15 resources have already committed to participating in the event. Employers attending the Job Fair represent the following industries: State and City, Retail, Gaming, Staffing Agencies, Utility Companies, Home Health, Security and more. Resources include Job Opportunities of Nevada (JOIN), Carson City Library, United Latino Services, and Job Connect.
The Chamber and the Carson City Health and Human Services Department are once again partnering to bring employers and employees together in fields to include manufacturing, retail, government and hospitality.
The State of Nevada and NDOT will provide the current job opportunities and assistance on how to obtain these jobs. Lowe’s and Home Depot are looking for the right people to assist in their retail outlets. Also on hand will be representatives from Harrah’s, Harveys, Nugget Casino, Casino Fandango, Gold Dust West and Cactus Jack’s who are offering job opportunities within their establishments. Those who enjoy working in home health care can meet with several companies dedicated to this field.
Manufacturing remains an important employment base for our community. Representatives from North Sails, PPF Production and American Buildings Company are seeking qualified employees.
Available also will be several temporary agencies for those seeking part-time employment and representatives from insurance agencies for those who wish to begin a career in insurance.
Job Seekers should bring an updated résumé, dress to be interviewed, and be prepared to fill out applications. Interview workshops are being held at Carson City Health and Human Services (900 East Long Street) each Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M.
