This week, we recognize graduating senior Johnathan Alvarado from Carson High School, a student who has built a strong high school career through steady effort in academics, athletics and service.

Johnathan will graduate with a 3.83 weighted GPA while completing 10 honors and AP classes during his time at Carson. He has also finished the Early Childhood Education pathway as a CTE Completer. Through this program, he regularly volunteered and developed a genuine enjoyment for working with younger students. His commitment to the program earned him second place and a Silver Medal at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Conference in the Focus on Children event.

Early Childhood teacher Kendra Tuttle shared, “He was a fan favorite among the littles,” reflecting the connection Johnathan built with the children he worked with. His experiences have inspired an interest in pursuing a career in teaching after graduation.

On the football field, Johnathan rushed for 1,222 yards and nine touchdowns during his senior season and helped lead the team to a 6 and 5 record. His performance earned him First Team All-Northern Region honors as a 4A division running back. His season opened the door to an athletic scholarship at Dickinson State University, where he will continue both his education and football career.

Teachers, coaches and classmates appreciate Johnathan for his work ethic, reliability and the respect he shows to those around him. Balancing advanced coursework, athletics and volunteer work required commitment and consistency, qualities that define his time in high school. For these reasons, he was selected as one of Carson High’s Senior in the Spotlight students. Looking forward to what comes next.
