A 26-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and other offenses after allegedly following his ex-girlfriend and striking her vehicle with his vehicle, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Jose Gallegos. He was also booked for possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and parole and probation violation.
According to the booking report, a deputy was on patrol in the area of Fairview Drive when they observed two vehicles traveling northbound. The first vehicle was a silver sedan and the second a black hatchback. The hatchback was following the silver sedan at an extremely close distance, approximately 2 to 3 feet, which did not allow sufficient stopping distance. Due to the nature of the violation, the deputy initiated a traffic stop.
During this, Carson City Sheriff’s Office dispatch broadcasted a call for service regarding a road rage incident involving a silver sedan and black hatchback.
The deputy made contact with the driver of the hatchback, later identified as Gallegos. The deputy advised him the reason for the stop, specifically for following too closely. The deputy also informed him there had been a reported road rage incident involving his vehicle and a silver vehicle. Gallegos stated he had been following his ex-girlfriend because he wanted to talk to her, the report states.
The deputy notes that earlier that evening, while at a gas station on Highway 50, they observed what appeared to be the same black hatchback following the same silver Honda eastbound on US-50 and turning onto North Edmonds. At that time, the deputy thought the behavior was unusual because the black hatchback appeared to be intentionally following the silver sedan. The deputy was unable to conduct a traffic stop at that time, the report states.
While speaking with Gallegos, the deputy requested his driver’s license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration. The deputy returned to their vehicle to conduct a records check.
While conducting the records check, a deputy advised he had made contact with the two occupants of the silver sedan who reported that Gallegos had intentionally struck her vehicle near the intersection of East William Street and Gold Dust Way. The deputy further advised the woman reported the suspect had also blocked her vehicle in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant while she was exiting the drive-thru. The driver was unable to move around the man’s vehicle. A deputy advised he observed paint transfer on the victim’s vehicle near the passenger side, consistent with her statement.
The investigating deputy inspected the suspect hatchback vehicle and observed extensive damage. Gallegos stated it was old damage. The deputy also observed areas of light-colored paint transfer on his vehicle. Due to the lighting conditions and extent of prior damage, the deputy was unable to determine if the paint transfer was silver or white, however, the transfer appeared consistent with a recent contact with another vehicle, the report states.
Based on the totality of circumstances, the deputy requested a K9 unit. The K9 alerted positive for drugs, which the deputy then conducted a probable cause search of the suspect vehicle. While searching the deputy observed small crystalline shards of suspected methamphetamine on the driver’s seat. The deputy collected and photographed the shards as evidence, which later tested positive for meth.
The deputy advised the suspect of his Miranda rights and he stated he understood and agreed to speak. He stated he had been following his ex-girlfriend because he wanted to talk to her. He stated that he initially saw her at the fast food restaurant and stated that when he saw her, he wanted to talk to her because they had been going through things, according to the report.
The suspect stated he never blocked her in with his vehicle but instead parked next to her vehicle to speak with her. He stated he attempted to speak with her earlier at a casino, however, he stated she was on the phone and did not want to speak with him. He admitted he followed her in his vehicle afterward, leaving the casino parking lot.
The report stated the suspect appeared fixated on contacting the woman and did not appear to understand that he could not follow someone who was attempting to get away from him. He made comments like “even though she’s my ex-girlfriend” insinuating that he was justified in following her, the report states. He never admitted to hitting her vehicle with his and only admitted to following her, according to the report.
Dispatch later advised the man was currently on probation with conditions to obey all laws and abstain from the use of drugs. Dispatch further advised parole and probation requested a hold be placed on the man for violation of probation conditions.
Video footage was retrieved from street cameras near the intersection of East William and I-580, which shows the victim vehicle making a U-turn with the suspect vehicle following. The suspect vehicle is seen getting side by side with the victim’s vehicle, then colliding on the right side. Both vehicles are seen heading eastbound. No injuries were claimed by either party. Bail: $20,000.

The cellmate said Wise then told him not to wake for breakfast so nobody would notice the marks and bruises on his face. The deputy asked the victim if he had any other injuries. — 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday for suspicion of DUI and other offenses. According to the booking report, a deputy was parked near North Carson and Bath Street at around 12:41 a.m. and observed a white Toyota traveling south on North Carson Street. The vehicle did not have its headlights activated and it was night time. The deputy got behind the vehicle and noticed the rear tail lights were not activated either. The deputy made a traffic stop for the headlights required and tail lights not being illuminated.
While the deputy was pulling the vehicle over, it made a right turn onto East Park Street. While it was turning right, the vehicle struck the corner curb and stopped west of the intersection. The deputy approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver.
As the deputy waited, the driver rolled down the back window instead of the front. Once the driver realized she rolled down the wrong window, she was able to roll down the driver’s side window. The deputy could immediately smell an odor of alcohol coming from within the vehicle.
The deputy explained the reason for the stop. The woman then immediately reached up and turned on the vehicle’s lights. The deputy asked if she had anything to drink. She said she had one drink earlier in the night. She stated her friend who was next to her had a lot to drink and was throwing up.
Due to her driving without vehicle lights on, her hitting the curb as she turned, rolling down the wrong window, the odor of alcohol in the vehicle and her omission to drinking a alcoholic beverage, the deputy began to investigate the stop as a driving under the influence case. Other deputies assisted.
The deputy asked the woman to step out of the vehicle. The officer noticed her eyes were watery and there was a light odor of alcohol coming from her person. She was asked if she would be willing to participate in field sobriety tests. She consented to do so and showed clues of impairment on the tests. She provided a preliminary breath test of .092 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail she consented to evidentiary breath tests. In those tests she blew a .076 and .075. Bail: $1,137.

Dispatch was advised the man had multiple guns in the residence and stated they could hear a female in the background yelling “no” and begging the man to stop. A short time later dispatch advised the man had said he wanted to die and continued to hear the female crying and screaming. Dispatch stated the man then exited the residence and was standing in the front yard.
Deputies arrived and was informed by another deputy that the same man was heavily intoxicated the previous day and was in a field. A plan was set to safely approach the residence in an attempt to contact the man.
It was determined that a drone would inform deputies of the precise location of the man, who was observed on the west side of the residence in a field behind the home, walking toward the home. A patrol vehicle was used to cover while deputies approached the residence. While approaching, deputies announced to the man to show his hands, which he complied. The man was detained.
